The public is invited to an RCMP educational event at Lansdowne this Saturday, May 3, 2025.

Richmond RCMP will be at Lansdowne Shopping Centre this Saturday bringing awareness to the community about frauds, drugs and its Cops for Cancer initiative.

At the event, the community can meet specialized investigators from Richmond’s Economic Crime Unit who will share their knowledge and expertise on various fraud awareness and prevention techniques.

The Community Engagement Team will also be there to talk about the Richmond RCMP D.A.R.E. keepin’ it REAL program.

In addition, two Richmond police officers who will be participating in the Cops for Cancer Tour de Coast 2025 in September will be in attendance.

Cops for Cancer is an annual event put on by the Canadian Cancer Society, where police agencies and other emergency services personnel join together to cycle nearly 800 kilometres over eight days along the coast of B.C. to help raise money for children with cancer, their families, pediatric cancer research and various support services at the Canadian Cancer Society.

Officers will be showcasing their cycling skills at this event.

“We look forward to this opportunity to meet our local residents and highlight some of the work done by our Economic Crime Unit and Community Engagement Team to help make our city safe,” said Cpl. Melissa Lui, Richmond RCMP media relations officer.

The public is invited to attend the event, which will include photo opportunities with Sergeant Safety Bear and Mountie in Red Serge.

The event takes place Saturday, May 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lansdowne’s Centre Court, located near the food court.
